This will help provide anyone an accounting of your receipts and purchases for the year that you qualify to have written off. It was a challenge to myself as well, which led me to creating a checkbook register. I need to track some finances anyway. This file is coming along so well so far, that I will consider putting it up as a download when it gets completed. It’s coming along well. I’ve got the running balance working, passing the ending balance to the new month and some cool UI techniques. If anyone is interested in having this file, send me an email and let me know. I have not made up my mind if the file will be free or involve a cost. Still deciding on that.

May 23rd, 2011

<dc:subject>Blog</dc:subject>

It’s always been a long dream of mine to use barcodes for assets inventory. I’ve worked on manual inventories over and over and over in my past work in Facilities and Office Management. Blah!

Well, with the addition of the iPhone and some barcoding apps, there is now a way to do this. Yes. Barcoding using your FileMaker Pro database, hosted on a Filemaker 10 or 11 FileMaker Server, along with the FileMaker Go app on the iPhone and the magic really all comes together. I am working on a presentation for scanning barcodes using the iPhone and FMGO, for colleagues @ work.

January

<dc:subject>Blog</dc:subject>

Looking forward to 2011!! I have an extensive background in this field. I know first hand, how demanding this job is, and precisely how FileMaker Pro can help in the efficiency of the job. But, I would love to hear some feedback from any Facility Manager about what they need or would like to see in a Facilities Custom Database. Think about the work that you do and tell me what would help you the most to improve your every day efficiencies, whether it’s communication, inventory, contractor work, trends or things that need tracking i.e. assets or even remote access from home.

So, tell me what’s on your mind. Your feedback will be invaluable to me as I develop toward a final solution. Think about it. You could then purchase the final solution, based on your input!

Sincerely,
Robert E. I plan to expand my web site to include databases that I will sell as ready-made commercial applications. I am currently reviewing shopping cart features and building a list of databases that I will be selling. I will then be going over those databases for quality testing. I will not be revealing what those databases are until they are ready for release.

In addition to selling databases, I will be pursuing becoming a member of the FileMaker Business Alliance. This will be an important step in running my business, but it will also be very good for my customers. I am reviewing the requirements by FileMaker. One of the initial requirements is to wait a year while in business. This will be a long term goal for this company. Happy FileMaking! :-)
